Ellis Rexwood Curry spotlights Jules Joseph Lefebvre in the art corner
Jules Joseph Lefebvre (1836-1911) was a painter in France.
The accompanying work is "Portrait of Julia Foster Ward."
Lefebvre was influenced by Italian masters and the female nude. His approach to painting continued to be traditionally formulaic until the age of 30. He also painted “Cornelia, Mother of the Gracchi.”
He developed a new personal style when he exhibited “Reclining Nude” at the Salon de Paris.
